Glee - The Back-up Plan

This episode of Glee we see everyone exploring their own back-up plans (hence the title) to get to where they want to be; or where they think they want to be.
Let's start with Rachel. Oh Rachel. This girl thinks that now that she's been on Broadway for 3 weeks and everyone's calling her a star, that she can be a TV star. So she gets representation but her agents tells her that she doesn't have the face for it. Ouch. Well, she ends up getting the chance to audition for this TV show in LA and lies to Sydney (the producer guy or whatever. I found out his name.) and hops on a plane. As for the audition, that went horribly. Then her understudy hurt herself and Santana had to jump in to save the show. Rachel almost got herself fired and if she does this again she will be fired. This girl really tried to have it all. Serves her right that it all came crashing down. She did get one ray of sunshine after it all though. The guy that approached her about the TV offered her a development deal, meaning they want to make a TV show focusing on Rachel. (cue side eye) Are they trying to tell us something? Is Rachel getting her own show after Glee ends? That would be very interesting. I'd check it out if it happened.
Mercedes is still working on her album and is trying to get her single right before she loses her album deal. So she gets help from Santana because we all know that when they sing together it's always amazing and that's what they did. They sang "Doo Wop (That Thing)" and it was the best! I love them together. Can it just happen all the time because that would be great. Mercedes is so fixed on singing with Santana that she wants her on the album and won't take no for an answer. I'm so here for that and would buy that album is hurry. Someone make it happen.
Lastly, Kurt's idol, June Dolloway, came to NYADA and, of course, he sings for her, but not without Blaine. But it turned out that June liked Blaine far more than Kurt and ends up taking him under her wing. Kurt doesn't seem at all jealous about it but that might change. See, June's planning a show for Blaine and he asked for Kurt to be apart of it but she said no. I don't think Kurt would've minded much but Blaine had to go and lie about Kurt being apart of it. This is not going to end well and we have to wait to see it unfold.
Overall, this was a great episode. My favorite part was, obviously, Mercedes and Santana together. I just realized that Artie and Sam were nowhere to be found. I wonder what they're doing with their lives? Well, until next week.

A Day Late and A Dollar Short (2014)

Synopsis
Viola is the asthmatic mother of 4 grown up kids; Charlotte, Janelle, Lewis, and Paris. She recently suffered from a serious asthma attack and was told that the next one might be her last. So she tries to get her family together so she can help them heal their wounds before she dies. The movie shows the struggles of her children as well as the struggles Viola has with her ex-husband Cecil.

My Verdict
This is a Lifetime movie but while I was watching I thought that it should have been in theaters. I loved it! It brought all all the emotions. I laughed, I cried, was shocked and got angry.
I've seen my fair share of family movies like this where they are forced to come together because of a tragic event. Some were good and some were not so good. This one was great. It did a good job touching on subjects that aren't really seen in movies like this. They also did an amazing job casting this movie and everyone did an amazing job. It's makes me even more happy that this was an all Black cast.
I'm giving this movie a 9/10. I want it on DVD and I've never said that about a Lifetime movie. I also want to read the book it's based off of by Terry McMillan.

Spoilers
Some specific things I want to talk about that I really liked and made me tear up. First were the letters that Viola wrote to her family. This may not seem like a big deal but she made it so the members of the family had to read the letter to the person they were having issues with. For example, Paris and Charlotte had issues with each other so Paris had to read the letter Viola wrote to Charlotte to Charlotte and vice versa. This is what set this apart from the other movies like this I've seen. It wasn't the mother telling them how to fix their issues. Well, it was her words but she made them say it out loud. It's something about saying it out loud that makes it more powerful and healing than just reading it or hearing it from someone else.
I liked how it wasn't the funeral that got the family together. Viola knew she was going to die but she didn't tell anyone. They had no idea why she wanted the help them deal with their problems. So it wasn't like the kids were solving their problems for their mother before she died or they were facing their problems with each other because the funeral brought them together after many years. To me, it's more sincere that way because they were fixing their issues because it was necessary, and not just to make their mother happy.
I also like the very end. After Viola died, she got to spend the afterlife in Paris. It was definitely a tear jerker.

Glee - Opening Night

It is finally opening night for Funny Girl and it's time for Rachel to shine, but she's a little nervous. Actually she was a complete hot mess and almost wouldn't get out of bed, but that all changed. Tina, Will, Santana, and even Sue came to see her performance. Rachel ended up doing a great job and got great reviews in the newspaper. I mean, were we really expecting anything less that great? It's Rachel Berry for goodness sake. On a sidenote, that producer guy (or whoever he is) is adorable. His excitement for the show made me smile.
Here were some other great things that happened. Emma had her baby! Now I didn't think that much time had passed but I was wrong. Anyways, she had a boy and they named him Daniel Finn. This show is constantly finding ways to make me turn into a puddle of tears!
Sue came and ended up inviting herself to stay at Rachel's apartment (ew). She ended up leaving the show early and had a fling with the male version of herself. I don't know who this guy is or if we'll ever see him again, but the whole thing was gross and hilarious at the same time. I mean, did you see them dancing together? I was cracking up! But, she didn't have tell them that she and that guy did the deed all over the apartment. That was way too much information.
Overall, this was a great episode. It was nice seeing the Ohio people again and it's always great when Santana comes to town. I just wished we got to see Emma with the baby. Until next week. Sorry it's really short. I guess I didn't have that much to say. Let me know yall thought of the episode in the comments below.

Scandal - The Price of Free and Fair Election

This season finale was crazy! There were twist and turns left and right. Things happened that I never expected, but in the end I was satisfied.

The Grants
Fitz knows, so they can heal. He may not have found out the way I wanted him to but he needed to know. I know this will change the course of their relationship. Will he leave her eventually, I don't know, but I'd rather see them mutually agree to break up than one leave for reasons that aren't true. They really need to decide together what their next step is going to be.

Olitz/Olake
I've pretty much ignored this because the triangle was getting on my nerves but I have to address it now. I've said it before and I'll say it again, I'm team 'Olivia be alone for a while' and I would've loved for Liv to get on that plane alone. I'm always here for that. I'm mad and I'm not mad she left. She needs to be alone to take care of herself and focus on her without having to deal with other people. But, she didn't go alone and that make me angry. Jake makes me angry. I mean he loves her and wants to be with her but I don't think she will ever be all in with him, and I think he needs to go find someone that will be all in with him. I'd rather see him happy with someone who fully loves him than see him with Olivia who, I think, is still unsure.
For those who are mad she isn't with Fitz, Olitz is not the show. There's so much more that makes it amazing. Just because they're not together, now, doesn't mean the show is awful and you should keep watching. And, I mean, isn't this how it always is for them in the season finales? That's why I'm in it for the long haul. It's like Whitley and Dwayne. We all knew they were going to end up together but it didn't happen until the series was almost over. Sorry, whenever I think of couples that are meant to be but aren't together yet I think of them.

The Ending
It wasn't an obvious cliffhanger but it was there. Like, I want to know what happens next but ... I don't know how to describe it. It's like they made it that way just in case they didn't get picked up for another season. Like there was just enough closure that some people could be content but, not enough for others, me, to not be content and want more. I don't if that makes sense but that's what it seemed like to me.
I'm actually satisfied with it all. Liv finally realized she needs fixing which I'm happy about that. She tries to fix everyone's lives but neglects her own. It makes me so happy that she realized that she needs to work on herself before she can help anyone else. I just with it was her an Iyanla on that plane instead of Jake. But I'm not mad. I'm strangely content. I was mad for like 30 seconds but I'm over it. We actually have no idea what will happen next (with the Jake thing), all we can do is assume. We can't get mad over our assumptions because it could go in any direction.
OPA being gone; yeah right they're on a break. I refuse to think that OPA is done for good.
Mama Pope's in the whole. I didn't know that until I watched it a second time. That's all I have to say about that.
We wanted Rowan to live and now we're paying the cost. Our viewpoints of people are constantly changing and that's very clear in Rowan's case. I think he did what he did for power alone. All he cares about is being command. All he knows is being command and I don't think he can live if he's not doing that.
That ending on the plane reminded me of the ending of the graduate when they were on the bus after they got married, which is why I think Liv is unsure about Jake. But, I won't say anymore about that.
They crammed so much into this episode but it didn't seem like it. In others, so much happened that you almost couldn't keep up but that wasn't the case here. I don't know how they did it but they're brilliant.

The season overall
It got better and better every week. I have never loved the writers and actors more than I do know. They really stepped their game up and I love it. I can't wait to see where season 4 takes us.

Season 4 predictions
I don't care if they haven't announced it yet it's going to happen. I'm giving up on trying to make serious predictions so here's what I want to see. More OPA cases. In The Writers Room twitter chat SR said that that's what they're working in season 4. (OPA will survive!)
I've heard people talk about a presidential divorce and how they want it so much that now I actually want to see it happen.
Well, it's been fun Gladiators. See you next season. Hope you survive the wait.

Blue Like Jazz (2012)

Synopsis
Don is about to graduate high school and head off to a Christian college. Days before he leaves he discovers that his mother is having an affair with his married youth pastor. So because of this he decides to abandon his Christian school (and his faith in general) and heads off to Reed College, a school his dad enrolled him into that is the complete opposite of everything Don is.

My Verdict
Now if you haven't read my opinion on Christian films them you should and then come back to this. This isn't so much a "Christian film" as it is a film with Christian themes which is probably why I liked it. For me, the over all theme was to not be ashamed of your faith and your experiences and this film did an interesting way of showing this. I thought that this movie would be about this Christian kid from Texas going to this non-Christian school and getting the biggest culture shock of his life, but I was wrong. (This wasn't predictable!) I thought that Don would be open about his faith but people would understand him and so he would act one way in front of his college friends and another way in front of his Christian friends, but that wasn't the case. It was really about Don finding out who he is and whether that included the Christian faith or not. He completely abandoned anything that had to do with the Christian faith which is something that I see a lot, especially when people go to college. It's something about moving away from home and that freedom that makes you do things you never thought you would do. The film didn't make it seem like it was bad that Don abandoned his faith. It was an experience he had to go through to help in grow and the overall lesson that he learned was the most important thing.
I also said that the theme was about not being ashamed or your experiences. Without giving away anything, Don becomes friends with a guy who's gone through something. They have this scene at the end that's really great, but that's all I'm going to say because I don't want to spoil it for you.
I'm giving this movie a 6/10. It was one of the more realistic Christian films I've seen. Also, it wasn't predictable which is always a good thing.

Spoilers
I want to say a little bit more about that ending scene with Don and The Pope. I just loved the fact that The Pope admitted that he was the one that was abused by the priest. It's exactly why I said one of the themes is not being ashamed of your experiences. In a way, The Pope and Don are extremely similar. They both had something traumatic happen to them in or associated with the church that caused them to abandon it. I think this is why they became such great friends and were able to have that heart to heart in the confessional booth.

Okay that's all I wanted to say about this film. Let me know if you watched it and what you thought in the comments below.

Glee - Tested

In this week's episode Blaine is struggling with his looks, Artie is struggling with an STD, and Mercedes is struggling with the decision to take Samcedes to the next level or not.
First off Blaine. He is living the life, eating everything and anything he could get his hands on which is awesome! It's awesome because food is awesome but he's not really taking care of his body, thus his recent weight gain. It also isn't helping that Kurt has become this healthy, fit, sex symbol (his words, not mine). So Blaine is really struggling, comparing himself to Kurt and becoming really insecure. Luckily he has support from his friends so he's not going through this stuff alone. Let's just hope that it doesn't get anymore serious than that.
Of all the people to get an STD Artie was the one. He sees himself as kind of big shot in school so he becomes a player and ends up getting the clap. This freaked him out because throughout the entire episode he kept hearing people say different STD's and saw himself in this gross STD costume thing. Paranoid much? Eventually he admits his troubles to his friends and the girl who he really likes. Things didn't turn out great (slut shaming and the girl breaking up with him), but he finally stopped seeing himself in that gross STD costume.
Now on to what I really want to talk about: Samcedes. Mercedes is unsure about taking her relationship to the next level, but Sam is really sure he wants to. Mercedes thinks it through, talks to Rachel about it, and even goes to church for guidance. Her decision is to wait until she's married and Sam ends up being okay with that. Now I want to say that I think Mercedes is one of the most realistic portrayals of a Christian I've ever seen on TV. Usually they're either super judgmental crazy people or they abandon their faith, but she is neither. This is one of the reasons why she is my favorite and will always be my favorite.
Overall, this was an okay episode. Nothing really amazing happened but it wasn't awful. I just want to say that I knew there was a minuscule thing between Sam and Rachel.
I'm starting to think that the only reason why I'm still watching is to hear Mercedes sing. I'm also thinking whether I should keep reviewing this show or not. I think I'll finish out this season since there are like 4 episodes left but I'm unsure about next season. What do you guys think I should do? Keep them coming or not? Let me know in the comments below.

Veronica Mars (2014)

Synopsis
This movie is the long awaited continuation of the amazing television series of the same name. If you haven't seen the TV show here is a brief synopsis. Veronica Mars is a junior in high school living in Neptune, California. Her best friend was recently murdered and the only way she can cope with it is by figuring out who the killer is. Also, her father has just lost his job as sheriff but he still does PI work. The series is mainly about Veronica solving huge mysteries from murder to finding lost dogs.
The film picks up with Veronica as a law school grad looking for her first big time job. She's living in New York with her boyfriend Piz and everything seems to be great until she gets a call from Logan. She rushed back to Neptune to help him out and it just so happens that her old high school is having a ten year reunion.

My Verdict
I loved it! I watched this show when it was on TV and rewatched it to prepare for this movie and it was everything I ever wanted it to be. I mean, it was like I was watching a season of the show in one sitting. It was great. Here were some of the things I loved about it. Everyone came back. Wallace, Mac, Piz (of course), even Dick, Gia, and Weevil, who had a wife and kid by the way! We got the great Veronica Mars narration throughout the movie and they even found a way to include the theme song in the film. And there was a synopsis of the series in the beginning for those that haven't seen the show. I really felt like I was one of the students returning for the reunion, seeing old friends, and finding out what they're all up to.
One PSA-type theme they had throughout was police brutality and dirty cops that will do whatever they can to put someone in jail even if the person didn't commit a crime. The show always had an incompetent sheriff and officers but they took it to another level in the film with this. They had cops doing stop and frisks and framing people. I think we get the message here.
Two people that we're in the film that I would have loved to see were Duncan and Jackie. It would've been nice to see how Duncan and his daughter were doing. If they were still in another country or if they found him and him and Veronica seeing each other after all those years. If you don't remember Jackie, she was Wallace's girlfriend in S2. The one that came to live with her dad, lied about her life and ended up going back to New York to live with her mother. I wonder what happened to her?

Well, I'm giving this movie a 9/10. It did everything a movie based on a TV show should do; give closure. We got to see what almost everyone was up to, Veronica stick with the job she truly wanted and what guy she ended up with. (Not telling if you haven't seen it) If you are a fan of the show you need to see this and if not, watch the show then watch the movie. Now I cry, because it really is over.

Scandal - Flesh and Blood

It's 6 days before election day and the intensity is rising and rising. Everyone is on edge because there's a bomb out there and Fitz is the target, but no one knows where the bomb is. All of this is happening, interestingly, on the anniversary of Big Jerry's death.

OPA/B613
These two have merged in order to find this bomb. So, old command, new command, Fitz, and Cyrus were all at OPA this week. Quinn and Charlie even showed up to help. It was extremely awkward, well, until Jake left. See, Jake and Rowan hate each other so much that they couldn't be in the same room together so Olivia kicked Jake out. So, I'm guessing they're holding on to this "family sticks together" thing because Liv didn't even think about it. She was just like Jake you got to go and he was not happy about that. For some reason I kind of trust Rowan. Makes no sense and I know you can't trust anyone on this show but I don't think he's playing her. I think it's my gut telling me this and I'm going to trust my gut. I just hope it isn't broken.

Does Maya Pope love anyone?
I think so. The only person she loves is Olivia; that's why she won't kill her and is doing everything in her power to keep Olivia away from Fitz. She's advised her many times and since that didn't work she had to go and stab Rowan to distract Olivia from everything going on at the white house. I just hope Rowan survives because I live for his monologues!
Let's talk about Rowan killing Dominick. He killed that man out of pure jealousy. He hates the fact that he loved Maya but she was only there to steal information from him and Dominick is the reason for that. And it's interesting to me that Rowan and Mellie understand each other. They both know what it feels like to be married to someone that doesn't love them and they both hate the mistress.

Huckleberry Charlequinn
So, Quinn, Charlie and Huck are all trying to work together, under the command of Rowan (hilarious) to find this Dominick dude because they think he knows where the bomb is. Now this is an interesting love triangle. Quinn is caught in the middle of these two and their bickering but she couldn't take it. So after Dominick gets killed, she rides off to dispose of the body by herself! We never found out where she put it by the way and that is going to bother me. I really want to know where it is. I just hope it doesn't get found.
Quinn and Huck finally hooked up and I don't know how I feel about it. But, isn't this what some of yall wanted back in S2 when they started working together? Correct me if I'm wrong, but I remember reading people saying that they want these two to hook up. So, why is it so wrong now? Tell me, do you want them together or not?

Mellie
First off that Mellivia scene was great but Mellie was on point last night! She was drunk for the entire episode and I loved it. Apparently there was a rumor that Mellie asked for a paternity test for one of her kids (Jerry) and when Olivia confronted her about it she went off, especially when Olivia just assumed Andrew was the father. The truth comes out when you're drunk and that's what happen in this scene. Mellie spilled the beans, finally, but know Olivia has to keep it all a secret, meaning she can't tell Fitz a thing.
The writers killed it with this scene, but that's not a surprise since they kill it every week. And the music in this scene was fantastic. Loved it.

Where is the bomb?
Well, at first, we think the bomb is at the Defiance, OH high school that held the voting machine with the Citron card. (Will Defiance ever go away?!) That's not where it was. It turns out that the senator who died was killed (by Maya) and the bomb is in the basement of the church where the funeral is taking place. And who is it that Jake tells this information to? Cyrus. So Cyrus knows the bomb's at the church and Sally is at the church and he's not going to do a thing about it. This man is evil, but I don't really care. I mean, I think it's about time they killed off Sally so I don't have a problem with it. But, Andrew is also at the funeral and Cyrus didn't think to at least get him out of there. If Andrew dies that means they'll be no more Mew and that makes me sad. Also, Cyrus doesn't know when the bomb is going to go off so he's just stalling Fitz from going. They could still make their way to the funeral. Let's just hope he gets there after the blast.

Finale Predictions
Sally, Leo, and Andrew will all die in the blast.
Harrison is in trouble and might not survive. I'm hoping on him surviving. I don't want him to die.
It's looking like Rowan might not survive either.
Mellie's going to tell Fitz about Jerry.
Mellie wins the election with the write in votes.
OPA relocates since Olivia can't work in a place where someone was killed.

Overall, this episode was fantastic! I loved the music, especially in the Mellivia scene and the scene when Rowan killed Dominick. I loved Abby's interactions with Rowan. I would love to see a scene with them in a room, alone.
Let me know what you guys thought about this episode and predictions for the finale in the comments below. Or, tweet me @KiaCherise

Man on a Ledge (2012)

Synopsis
Yes, it's about a man on a ledge, obviously they'res more than that. Nick Cassidy (Sam Worthington) is the man on the ledge. He's an ex-cop who was put in jail for stealing a diamond from David Englander (Ed Harris), but he escapes. While on the ledge he asks for Lydia Mercer (Elizabeth Banks), a psychiatrist, to talk him down. Meanwhile a bank robbery is taking place by Joey Cassidy (Jamie Bell) and Angie (Genesis Rodriguez), Nick's brother and his girlfriend. It turns out that Nick being on the ledge is just a distraction from the bank robbery. Nick is doing all of this to prove his innocence.

My Verdict
Now I was extremely skeptical about this film. I didn't hear good things about this movie and with a title like that what would you expect. Everyone I talked to about it said that it was just about a man on a ledge and that's not interesting. I didn't remember seeing any previews for it so I went and found them. The one thought I had was why in the world did they show basically the entire movie in the preview?! I mean, they left out few details but mot many.
I thought this movie was predictable. It's supposed to be this thriller but it wasn't even intense. Everything they did to draw intensity was so typical. I just didn't feel it. It wasn't 'edge of your seat' action to me.
Let's talk about Mercer for a minute. She was the only female cop working on this case and she was the one that was in charge, well she was supposed to be in charge. All of the other cops (which were male) treated her with little to no respect. None of them thought she could do her job and it made me so angry. Of all people not to respect it has to be the only female there.
One positive I did have was that this movie did a good job at making me root for the robbers. I was sitting there thinking "wait, am I rooting for the robbers? Aren't they the bad guys? Shouldn't I be rooting for the cops?" It kind of reminded me of "Dog Day Afternoon."
I'm giving this movie a 5 out of 10. I was entertained but it was predictable and I can't stand it when I can predict things. Plus, it wasn't the greatest thing ever.

Spoilers
I'm going to talk about some specific details so if you don't want to be spoiled don't read on.
There were two things that weren't addressed in this movie. First why did David set Nick up? We find out he likes to use cops but we never find out why. We can only assume that it's because cops can cover up this crime but I want to know if he chose Nick specifically or randomly. I'm actually more interested in the backstory than the storyline of the movie.
The second thing that wasn't addressed was why Nick's father faked his death. I can assume it was to help him escape and prove his innocence but we never found it out. And, why didn't anyone recognize him? I'm pretty sure when his son went to court he went with him, so why didn't any of these other cops recognize that the bellman was Nick's dad? Again, I want to know more about the backstory. Also, I knew the bellman was in one it all. When they interviewed him and he said Nick had "innocent eyes" I was like, something shady is going on. Then he brought Nick food and at that moment I knew he was involved. I didn't guess that he was the father but I wasn't too shocked when they told us. I just thought "oh that's his dad, really? He faked his death for you."
Lastly I want to talk about the women in the movie. Of the two that weren't extras (and had more than on line) one of them was the sexy sidekick and the other got no respect from her colleagues. They didn't like her and didn't trust that she knew what she was doing. And, of course, she believed Nick but no one believed her until it was all said and done and there was physical proof he was innocent. Then they were like "oh good job" and "I'm proud to work with you." That just really made me angry. I know they have this female test (Bechdel test) and I think that this movie would fail it. I fact I looked it up and it did fail.
I may be blowing this out of proportion but in the end they made it seem like Mercer made eyes at Nick and it seemed like they would get together. I just thought this was unnecessary.

Well, that's what I thought of this movie. A 5/10. I won't be watching this again. Let me know what you thought about it in the comments below.

Glee - Bash

In this episode of Glee Rachel is having trouble juggling her responsibilities, Kurt goes through a traumatic experience and Sam and Mercedes are considering rekindling that old flame.
First let's talk about Rachel. This girl has been neglecting all of her school work and putting all her time and effort into "Funny Girl." Now I thought "Funny Girl" was some kind of internship type thing where she didn't have classes because the musical counted as credit and I'm guessing she did too, but that wasn't the case. So now Rachel has the big showcase coming up which is a huge part of her grade and somehow she ends up screwing that up. Ms. Tibideaux gave her a chance to make it up but Rachel chose the play and dropped out of NYADA! I don't know about you but I agreed with everything Ms. Tidibeaux said. Rachel is great but her head is too big for her own good. I thought that by having her friends around they would be able to talk some sense in to her, but no. All I can do know is hope that everything turns out okay, but we shall see.
Kurt was attacked because he's gay. Here's how it went down. Kurt was heading home, alone, and saw someone else getting attacked and he thought he should jump right in and try to save him. It really wasn't a good idea since it was two against one and Kurt was seriously hurt. I was super sad and they almost made it seem like he wasn't going to make it, but he did. And of course his dad showed up. Kurt's dad is like the best parent on the show. I love him and I know I say that every time. I especially liked when he was trying to sing along to the song Kurt sang for him showcase performance.
Sam won't give up talking about this "sexual tension" between him and Mercedes, but she wasn't having it especially after he met her friends from Los Angeles. These girls didn't have a problem with Sam as a person, they just didn't like the color of his skin. They thought it wasn't good for Mercedes image and she felt the same way. But, she made the decision to date Sam. We'll have to wait and see if it last this time.
Overall, I really liked this episode. It's always nice to see Whoopi back. Mercedes singing, I mean, I love it and Color Blind is fantastic! Also, I actually lol'd at stuff. I mean, I know the show is supposed to be funny but lately it's only gotten a few chuckles out of me, but this time I actually laughed out loud, genuinely. I really liked how they touched on some more serious topics like hate crimes and interracial dating. These New York only episodes are really growing on me. It's sad that we don't get to see certain people as much, or at all, but I could get used to it. I still can't help but wonder if they'll do a spin off of this after the Glee series ends. I think I may watch if they do. Until next week guys. Also, don't forget to share your thoughts in the comments below. I wan't to know what you think.

Scandal - The Fluffer

I don't know where to start. Last night's episode left me in a state of 'I don't know what's happening or how to feel' and I don't know if rewatching helped. We'll have to see as I try to somehow write an organized reaction to it all. So here we go.

White House Craziness
So Olivia is still upset about everything that happened last week and can't go back to the white house so she sends Abby in her place. No one liked the idea and on top of it Janine Locke made her way back into the news with her new book about being the presidents mistress. First off, wouldn't that book be all lies since she never really had an affair with Fitz? Liv sees this as a reason to come back to the white house so she can fix this situation which leads to one of her great monologues. She asks Fitz what he needs and he doesn't understand so she basically list everything she's ever been to him and asks him to choose one. Then she starts talking about their relationship and how she plays it out in her head like a movie but it just stops. Olivia, weren't you the one that said you weren't a "fantasy" or the one that gets the guy at the end of the movie (or however that quote went)? That's why the movie stops, because your life isn't a movie. Don't forget what you said in 220.
Fitz wants Andrew off the ticket which is no surprise to me. I knew that he was going to get all pissed off about Mellie's affair which is ridiculous and kind of hypocritical. You don't want Andrew around because he slept with your wife but you can have Liv all up and through the white house whenever you like? That's not okay. Fitz, you can't have it all. Olivia ends up giving Andrew an ultimatum; love or power and he chose power, but I don't think this is the last of Mew.
Also, Mellie talking to the warrior women of America about their sacrifices, knowing what she's been through. All I can say is wow! I love this show!

OPA and B613
OPA is still trying to take down B613 and this time Olivia asks her father for help and he actually helps. I guess he's really standing by his statement of family sticking together, or he's just pissed because he's not command anymore and he doesn't like Jake. I want to talk about the conversations between Huck and Liv for a minute. First Huck was upset about Liv getting help from Rowan and he didn't want to help take down B613 anymore. But, Liv persuaded him, talking about how this is the job and they do what they have to do even if they don't want to do it. Then Huck used the same thing to get Liv to break into Jake's phone. Olivia definitely got a taste of her own medicine here. All these times these people did things for her because they would go "over a cliff" for her and now it was her turn. As awful as it was to see her basically pimp herself out for information, at least she fully knows what it's like to work for Olivia Pope and do the dirty work for the greater good. All this reminded me of what Abby did to get the Citron card from David.

Mama Pope
I don't know how many time I can say this but this girl don't play! She is constantly proving that with killing Claire and then getting this bomb. I thought that she was just going to try and shoot Fitz but she went out and got a bomb from her boo thang on the side. She wants to take out everyone! All for the money, huh?
As for Adnan, I think she playing the double spy here. I think she's going back to Harrison and telling him everything. I know she played him and stole all that info but I just have this feeling she's still helping OPA. She kept asking questions trying to find out more about mama Pope's plan instead of just following it blindly.

That last scene
I really didn't think that OPA was going to hack into B613 that soon or at all for that matter, but once they did I knew that nothing good could come from it. That part was kind of predictable.
And let's talk about Jake slamming Liv against the wall and chocking her! I know there area lot of Olake fans out there (my brother being one of them) but this dude is not a good guy. He spied on her, and sure he was taking orders from Fitz but instead of telling Liv the truth when she found out, he put her in the hospital! I just can't get over that. So no, I wasn't too shocked when he did what he did because he's hurt her before, who's to say he wouldn't do it again!
Lastly I wanted to talk about the lighting in this scene. It looked like the sun was rising or setting. I just thought it fit so well because at first they were talking about how they were stepping into the light (sun rising) but then Jake came in and ruined it dragged them into the dark (sun setting). I loved it. Did anyone else notice that?

Overall, I will say that this episode as just the calm before the storm and as crazy as this show is it only means that the storm will be unimaginably insane! This episode was just a precursor to what will happen next and it's going to be bad and rip our hearts out and the summer wait will suck. I don't even know how to prepare for it. If you have any suggestions let me know and let me know what you thought of the episode in the comments below or tweet me @KiaCherise

Beasts of the Southern Wild

"Once there was a Hushpuppy and she lived with her daddy in the bathtub." This film is about a girl, named Hushpuppy (Quvenzhane Wallis), her dad Wink (Dwight Henry) and their community that lives away from regular society in a place they call "the bathtub." They fear for the day when the ice caps melt and the water rises and destroying their home. Throughout the film the adults teach the kids what to do to survive if and when that happens. Hushpuppy also searches for her mother.

While watching this film I immediately thought that this must be a film about the effects of global warming and that there would be some message at the end about what we can do to prevent this, but I was wrong. This film was really about community and family sticking together and doing what they can to survive. If it was about global warming it wasn't preachy or biased. It just showed what would happen if. I also thought of hurricane Katrina and just hurricanes in general and how people don't want to leave their homes for anything. They felt so connected and so loyal to their homes that nothing could take them away from it and that's what the people of the bathtub were like, especially Wink and his friends. While watching I got this overall feel that this was their home, this was their way of life and there was nothing that could be done to make them conform.
Overall, I liked the film. After some research I found out it's based on a play and I wish I had read that before I watched the movie because the film was a little odd to me, at first. Then I started to realize it's true message, forgot about how it wasn't like most movies out there and accepted it for what it was.
I'm trying to do a rating system so, I'll give it a 7.5 out of 10. I want to know what yall thought about it. I heard some people didn't like it and I want to know why. So whether you liked it or not, tell me why in the comments below. And remember, I'm always open for suggestions, so if there's a movie you want me to review let me know.

Glee - New New York

Glee has officially taken over New York. In this episode Sam, Blaine, Artie, and Mercedes join Rachel and Kurt in New York to start their own adventures. Here are the basics. Rachel is living the life with her new 24/7 town care which was given to her because of all her hard work on "Funny Girl." Klaine seem to be living the life as well. The newly engaged couple is living together. Sam is kind of a late bloomer. He's been bumming it out on the couch playing video games since he can't find a job. Artie is having a bit of a rough time. He's been robbed, yelled at multiple times, and even got sprayed by a puddle when a car rode by. Everyone's luck does start to change though.
First, Blaine is a bit of a smother and super jealous about Kurt and Starchild who spend a lot of time together. He and Kurt get into a huge fight about it all. In the end they decided it was best for Blaine to move out to give both of them some space. What I want to know is what the deal is between Kurt and Starchild. They've been spending a lot of time together and I definitely saw them making eyes at each other after that song. Is something going to happen between them? Something in the back of my mind keep telling me they got something going on. What do you think?
Artie basically tells Rachel she's too bougie for her own good and isn't a real New Yorker because she's not living the real New Yorker life. So she ditches her town car to take the subway with Artie to keep him safe and to really experience New York. Good thing Artie was there to slap some sense into Rachel because she was getting super annoying again. Hopefully he can keep her on track if she slips up again.
Sam finally got himself a haircut and a job. Mercedes also came to town because she was lonely on the west coast and wanted to see her friends. If New York means more Mercedes than I'm down. So she's here to stay and is renting out a room to Sam and Blaine. And, nothing is going to happen between Sam and Mercedes, nothing.
Overall this was a good episode. It really felt like I was watching a season premiere instead of some mid-season episode. I want to know why they didn't just do a spin off with the people in New York. It looks like they won't be visiting Ohio much and it feels like it's not Glee anymore. I mean, there's no glee club, just a bunch of kids from the glee club following their dreams in New York. Are we even going to see Will, Sue, or Tina again? Well, actually I read that Sue was coming to New York so we will see her again, but what about everyone else? I guess we'll just have to wait and see. I think they should have done a spin off but that's just me and we really don't know what's going to happen. I have no idea what those writers are thinking. I'm just happy that we get to see more Mercedes.
Until next week people. Make sure to tell me what you thing in the comments below.
