My Top Moments of 2013

I thought I would add in my top TV and Movie moments of this year. Here they are in no particular order.

The Blacklist is good, Hostages was bad
This is one thing I didn't expect to happen. I was hype when Hostages came on but I soon realized that it wasn't the show for me. Then I checked out The Blacklist and was instantly hooked. Now I have something to look forward to Mondays.

Scandal Exploded
This kind of started in 2012 but I'm mentioning it because of Twitter. Twitter is actually a key component to this show. And now Nielsen has Twitter TV ratings and I'm convinced that Scandal is part of the reason for this. Also the show is crazy good and continues to blow us away every week.

Glee end in sight
We now know that Glee will end after the 7th season. Will a show like this (characters coming and going) you always wonder when it'll end. All good things must come to an end.

Have and Have Nots
I was not a fan of this show. I watched the first episode and thought it was going to be all dramatic and soap opera-esq so I stopped watching. Then I heard a ton of buzz and my sister (who doesn't like anything) was hooked. So I started watching again and found myself wanting more. Now I can't wait for January 7th.

Web Series/YouTube shows
YouTube is HUGE now and there are many shows on there that are worth watching. My favorites: anything Issa Rae does and the Unwritten Rules. Check these pages out.

My year of drama TV
I now watch more dramatic shows than comedies. I need more comedy in my life so, HELP!

All the movies starring people of color
Best Man Holiday, The Butler, 12 Years A Slave, 42, Fruitvale Station. Need I say more?!

Cheryl Boone Isaacs the new president of The Academy
The first black president also a woman! Woman power all the way! She's only the 3rd woman to fill this role so let's hope and pray this brings more woman to the job. I'm rooting for her to do an amazing job!

And there you have it folks. Some of the amazing things that happened in 2013. Hopefully 2014 is bigger and better. Happy New Year to all.

Scandal - A Door Marked Exit

Okay, so I was a little scared that I wouldn't have anything to say because last night's episode legit left me speechless but let's face it, I always have something to say. So where do I begin?

Let's talk about Sally Langston. That first scene was AMAZING. I mean, "I suffer you" and "you are my original sin" and Daniel Douglass basically saying that she is just his beard. It was just amazing. Kate Burton did a fantastic job in this episode! I knew she wasn't going to run anymore, but I wasn't expecting her to admit to Leo that she killed her husband. I can't help but wonder what he's going to do with such information, if he'll use it at all. I mean, he's out of a job now so I wonder if he'll threaten to leak it if she doesn't run.
Now that scene between Fitz and Rowan was the best one of the night! Joe Morton killed it and the lines that Fitz got, oh my goodness. I have to say that Rowan was making some sense with what he said about Olivia being Fitz's "door marked exit" and now I'm sitting here questioning Fitz's love for her! This show really knows how to turn the tables on things, doesn't it? And I could go on and on about the simple fact that Rowan was calling Fitz 'boy' and the significance of that word racially. How whites would call Black males 'boy' and then Rowan went on and on about how he's not a boy, he's a man because he worked hard to get where he is. Oh the depth behind one word. I could be wrong but if I'm not, oh my gosh! Just brilliant writing there. And Fitz's presidential balls, I mean did he really think it was okay to mention to Liv's father that he knows how she taste?! Gosh, that made me uncomfortable! And when Olivia came in and the conversation she had with her father; Joe Morton is an amazing actor, that's all I can say. He rocked this episode.
And now Jake is command. What the what?! How on earth? First I want to know how. Then I want to know if Fitz and Jake are co-command or something because Fitz said they would be a great team. And what does this mean for B613? I just have so many questions I hope they get answered.
Quinn, oh Quinn. I was really hoping that I could start to like her again but no. When she went back to OPA I thought she was going to quit and when she didn't I was happy. But Huck had to go and say that she's not a gladiator anymore so she goes crawling back to Charlie (hopefully she picked up some underwear on the way). I just know Olivia is going to be pissed about this. And yes, I am putting some of the blame on Huck. He didn't have to say that to her. Huck, I will always love you but you need to be a little nicer to Quinn; she's fragile.
And mamma Pope is gallivanting through the city with HER white coat and HER gloves! What is she going to do now? Is she going to go find Rowan and, oh I don't know, murder him?! How does she plan to spend her time because I don't feel safe with her running wild. I'd feel better if she was locked up in a cell or something.
What is David Rosen going to do with that recording? Who will he tell first? Abby? James? We shall see.

Way to leave me speechless Scandal. I'm pretty sure this is the first time that's happened. I can't even put into words how I felt about this episode. It was just that good. I'm just a little upset there was no mention of Adnan Salif. (Super crazy theory: mamma Pope is or knows Adnan Salif.) Shout out to all the actors, especially the ones that KILLED IT last night: Joe Morton, Kate Burton and Jeff Perry. You all rock! The first scene, Fit'z and Rowan's scenes, and the Huckleberry Quinn scene were shot beautifully. Shout out to those people! Loved seeing the black and white photos again. Predictions for the second half of the season: more of the campaign trail and I think this whole Sally being a murderer thing will be resolved in the first 10 minutes of the next episode.
This has literally been on crazy ride! I'll be checking in to Scandal Rehab now, so see you February 27th. This time around I'll be sure to have an oxygen tank and a heart monitor to prevent heart attacks and comas. Super sad this is my last review of the year. Have a happy holiday and a happy new year! See you in 2014!

Scandal - YOLO

Well my night was filled with 'I can't deal' and 'what the Huck!' How about yours. I seriously don't know where to begin with this. So much happened in this episode (as if so much doesn't already happen in every episode) so let's just go.
Huck is back to torturing again and this time it'a Quinn, but we all knew that. But, like he said, he's giving her the "friends and family discount" and he's not going to kill her, so it won't be that bad. This is what she gets for being dumb. If she had just calmed down and not been so interested she wouldn't have lost any of her teeth! Did anyone else's mouth hurt after watching this? (My mouth hurts right now) Huck had to leave her all tied up in her apartment to tend to Olivia who is freaking out about her mother.
How Olivia managed to not drop dead when her mom came out of the shadows is beyond me! I know for sure that I would have immediately hit the ground, stone cold dead from a heart attack if I was in that situation. I mean her mother literally came back from the dead and she just hid herself in a room and called Huck! I just can't! Well the team gathers and they bounce from one safe house to the next trying to escape the clutches of Evil Eli. They try hard to get Maya out of the country but Evil Eli tries even harder to keep her in it. Harrison and Abby go back to the office (which is completely ransacked) and some mysterious girl comes out of nowhere. Then she starts mentioning Adidnan Salif and here we go with this again! Remember, this is the mystery man that scares the crap out of Harrison. Well, he made it back in the country. I just wonder when we'll find out the whole story. (Please, oh please let it be next week!)
While all this "dead mamma Pope" stuff is going on, Sally Langston is just about ready to resign as VP and become a Presidential candidate. (Ugh!) But first, she has to sell her soul to the devil. That's right, she put "politics over God" because that was the only way her campaign manager would stay on board. Tells Fitz and he gets pissed and runs to Cyrus.
What's happening with Cyrus you ask. Well, he's trying his hardest not to freak out about James but he is a jealous man and James did not make it easy for him. These two had one of the best scenes and lines of the night! Cyrus is really cracking under all this pressure. I have a feeling Fitz might threaten taking away his job. And it really is a shame because all he had to do was hire a hooker instead of pimping out James and none of this would've happened. Oh and James is about to leave Cyrus and I don't think he'll come back. Well I hope he doesn't come back.
What else? Oh, Jake is the biggest idiot that ever lived! No surprise there. First he goes and gets himself in a little cat fight with Fitz and then he tries to kill Rowan and fails! This dude needs to have SEVERAL seats! Go back to your little Navy job and forget all this ever happened. You lose every time! Get over it because you're really starting to get on my nerves.
Now let's talk about that ending! First, Olivia finds out that her mother was "the monster" all this time. Oh I so didn't want mamma Pope to be bad, but she is and oh how the tables have turned. So OPA and Fitz helped a terrorist leave the country! I wouldn't be surprised if they all ended up in the hole next! And no, I'm not on Rowan's side. Let's not forget he is command of B613 and we STILL don't have the whole story. That's where I thought the episode was over, but it wasn't. Then this whole thing with Quinn goes down. She's actually a double spy now! She went from being my least favorite to my favorite an a matter of seconds! She is playing Charlie and shows up with her trusty needle to do some damage. But then I was like, no she might kill Rowan and we don't want that just yet, so she might not be my favorite anymore. Then I thought it was over again but no. That final scene. Sally Langston calling Cyrus, who's the devil, and confessing she committed a sin while her husband lies dead on the floor. Who saw that coming? Not me! And of all people she calls Cyrus! What is he going to do for her? I guess this means that she won't be running anymore, but we shall see.
Boy oh boy was that a jammed packed hour. But it's not over yet. There's one more episode left! Now here are some more random things I just couldn't deal with in this episode. That Olitz phone call. How chill Maya was at that safe house with Olivia. She was all like I'm alive, let's be friends and eat breakfast and talk about your life! The line "Eli raised you in his image." I mean seriously Scandal writers you are the best. Olivia speaks Chinese/Mandarin now?! Where did that come from?! And last but not least, this song. I mean, it's about a freaking rat for goodness sake!
This episode was AMAZING!! Katie Lowes was fabulous! And now we have to endure the longest week of our lives for the winter finale!

Glee - Previously Unaired Christmas

Pic Credit: http://www.aceshowbiz.com
I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving. About last week's Glee ... I had no words. I mean, Jake's almost crisis and the puppets; I just couldn't deal.

This week it's all about Christmas, Christmas past that it. Apparently this episode was taped last year and never aired, hence the title. This make a ton of sense considering all of the crazy drama that's happening in the future - no, the present. Okay whatever, let's get into it!
So the New Yorkers were being Santa's elves and, after Santa got drunk and passed out, Mrs. Clause. I thought Santana did a hilarious job as Mrs. Claus. I have no filter so I can appreciate her comments. I do have one question: why does Santa always have to be a drunk? I swear in every Christmas thing I watch Santa is too drunk to do his job. Anyways, these kids thought they were getting the sexiest Santa replacement ever but he turned out to just be a thief! No real shocker there. I figured he was either a mooch or a thief when he suggested to go to their place for dinner. And then when he got there he was eyeing the place all weird, I knew he was going to rob them. Luckily (I guess) they were able to get new jobs as live models.
Back at McKinley, Christmas was making Tina and Becky go nuts! The school was having a room decorating contest and Tina did everything in her power to win. They were also having auditions for the live nativity scene since the old got trashed. So all the girls, including Unique, wanted to be the virgin Mary except Kitty. We soon discovered that she wanted the part but, being the most Christian out of everyone, she felt unworthy. I actually felt bad for her because she takes all this stuff seriously, which she should. In order to make her take the part Unique pretended to be Mary and they sang 'Love Child' which was the most unbelievably inappropriate thing I have ever seen. It was just wrong. I mean there was a birth reenactment and Dreamgirls-esque outfits. It was just a hot mess, but it worked. And in the end they gave a great performance. The glee club also won the room decorating contest but gave the prize the Becky once they saw how bummed she was about not winning.
Overall I have to say that it was great. I mean, how can you not like an episode full of Christmas music. It puts you in a good mood. I just thought that since it was supposed to be in the past that we would have seen people that would've been there then, like Brittany, but whatever. This was a very nice last episode of the year. Glee comes back February 25th which is a Tuesday. Yes, the day has changed (again), which means that my post will go up on Wednesdays now. The time changes too, it will come on at 8pm now. I hope you (and I) remember this. Happy holidays and have a happy New Year! Until 2014!!
