Switched at Birth - As the Shadows Deepen

I know I said I wouldn't have a review this week because of work but things change!
This whole episode was awkward, shocking, and a little bit annoying.
The first annoying thing in this episode were John and Kathryn; big surprise. These two just can't let life happen. They always have to interfere into people's lives to make them go the way they think it should go. They really need to let Toby live his life. Let him get in to Wash U on his own! Why is it so necessary for his grandfather to make a call and how is that fair?! All that stuff makes me so mad!
The other annoying thing was Bay and Ty. These two can't stay together for 2 minutes without something happening that causes them to break up! It's ridiculous! First Ty got all jealous when he was Bay and Emmett kiss at the end of that movie they made forever ago. And when Bay goes to see him and he suggest they break up, she doesn't even fight for him. But that didn't last long because Ty came after her and they got back together. But, we really don't know how long that will last because Ty is going back to Afghanistan soon! Shocker! These two can't catch a break! There were also some SUPER awkward moments between Bay and Emmett; like that hug and them watching the kiss. Just plain awkward.
There was also an awkward moment between Daphne and ... Chef Jeff!!! Yes, Chef Jeff is back and this time with a fiance. Apparently he's been seeing this girl for 4 years!! That means that he was cheating on her with Daphne!! Such a crazy turn of events, but it gets even crazier. Jace is bad news. He may look nice and have a great voice but he's NO GOOD!! He told Jeff's fiance about him and Daphne and Daphne found out about it because Jeff confronted her! Of course Daphne confronted Jace about the whole thing and wasn't apologetic at all! Daphne really needs to drop him now before she gets into trouble.
The final shocker of the episode was the truth behind Nikki's dad. So last week we learned that they found the guy that shot her dad and Toby thought it would be a good idea for her to meet him. So they get to the prison but she doesn't want to do it so Toby talks to him. The guy ends up telling Toby that Nikki's dad was his drug dealer!! I surely didn't see that coming. Toby then goes and tells Nikki and she's completely in denial about it and pissed at Toby for believing it. It's just a really sad thing.
Overall this episode was okay. I think, with this show, ABC Family has a tendency of showing really intense promos and then the episode doesn't live up to them. I really thought that this episode would be the big one but it wasn't. This is why I'm a little worried about next week because the promo was crazy intense!! Let's just hope that next week's episode lives up to the promo. My fingers are crossed.

Switched at Birth - Prudence, Avarice, Lust, Justice, Anger

So first I have to apologize for not having a review up last week. There was a lot going on and I couldn't get on my computer until last Thursday! I also want to apologize in advance because there night not be a review next week. I work at a camp that has overnight groups come and next week is the last week for it. Sorry guys.

So first off, ABC Family deceived us all last week by showing us the wrong promo. Everyone I know was excited for this intense episode and it wasn't even the right one! So I won't talk about how anticlimactic it was because they showed us the wrong promo!! Now that we got that out of the way let's get on with this week's episode.
There was a lot going on so let's just take it one by one. So Daphne is teaching Jace how to swim and they spot that cheating senator scoping out all the women. Daphne then finds out that the one girl that worked there that was having an affair with this senator (who's name isn't worth remembering) is pregnant! So Jace and Daphne took it upon themselves to send mysterious text messages to this guy saying they know what he did. These two are getting themselves into some risky business here. I was so scared that they were going to get caught, but luckily they didn't and Daphne got him to side with her on the sex education bill. So, I like Jace but I think it's only because of his voice. I could listen to that all day.
So Simone is back and she is squeezing herself into Toby's life. She ends up getting him a gig at her uncle's restaurant and Nikki sees they text. Of course, she thinks they are getting back together or something so she takes herself on down there only to find him singing and not cheating. She got played! Now these two really need to have a serious conversation. Toby definitely has cold feet and I don't think they value the same things. Sadly, I don't see this relationship working out. I really hope it does but it doesn't look too good.
Regina and Angelo are about 5 seconds away from making out with each other. Regina is really fighting her love for Angelo, but it won't last. She even said it herself that she hasn't given in to temptation yet! And she needs to give in because they are married and they love each other. It just needs to happen.
Angelo finally got news about his baby and went to visit the people that adopted her. If it wasn't for Ty, Bay wouldn't have even gone, but Ty was a sweetie and drove her all the way there. The meeting was super awkward! The baby was adopted by a gay guy couple and one of the dads was fine but the other was straight up rude! He never even gave Angelo a change and basically said if you want her see me in court! So it's looking like Angelo is going to fight for her but he doesn't have Bay on his side. Personally, I think he should fight. I mean, he already lost time with his first daughter so what makes you think he would do the same thing with his new daughter? And the mother didn't even ask his permission to put the baby up for adoption and that is just plain wrong. He should fight and Bay needs to get on his side.
Lastly I'll talk about Bay and Ty. Those two nasties need to stop. They finally did the dirty little deed and now it seems like Bay can't get enough, but Ty doesn't seem like he wants to do it as often as Bay. That might create an issue.
This was an okay episode. It seemed like there was a lot of storylines but not that much really happened. Hopefully next week will be really, really good. And some advice to whoever plays the promos over ABC Family: TRIPLE check them to make sure it's the right one. You have one job, please do it right next time.

Switched at Birth - Ecce Mono

So, I feel a little weird reviewing this episode since it's not real, but what they hey, let's do it.
The episode starts out about 13 years ago. We see the Kennish's morning routine. Little Bay and Toby are super adorable! Then John gets the call about the switch, they meet with lawyers and end up going to court. John gets what he wants and gets custody of both girls. All this takes place after Daphne goes deaf. We see her getting ripped out of Regina's hands and it's really heartbreaking. Then we move into the future; 13 years later.
Here are the differences. Daphne has a cochlear implant and doesn't talk with and accent and she is one out of control girl! She's best friends with Simone (yikes!) and they get into plenty of trouble. She skips school, goes to a frat party, and gets with some guy she used to like! All I could think is 'Daphne that little slut!' Well, like mother like daughter.
And let's talk more and Kathryn. Kathryn is still a writer, but she is also having an affair with that senator that made a pass at her in last weeks episode! That was a shocker. I never thought she would be like that, but John doesn't treat her well. And John is a push over, he let's Daphne get whatever she wants! Daphne just pulls the cochlear card and he feels sorry for her and he missed out on the first 3 years of her life so he just let's everything she does slide.
Bay on the other hand is a goodie 2 shoes. She studies all the time and doesn't even know about the frat party, but Kathryn forces her to go with Daphne. Oh and she has short hair which is just really weird. Honest;y, I feel super bad for her. She's the outsider of the family and knows nothing about her real family. It's really sad.
And Toby is still a gambler. But, we don't see much of Toby after this. I guess his life isn't really that important in this parallel universe.
Also, Emmett exist in this universe and he meets Bay after she leaves the frat party and gives her a ride home. He questions her about her life and then they go on a search for some information on Regina and they find it!
Bay and Daphne both go to Regina's house only to find her mother there. She know exactly who they are and when they ask about Regina the truth finally comes out. It turns out that Regina died some time before then on the girl's birthday! That had to be the saddest moment of the episode. I knew that she wasn't going to be alive but I still got teary eyed. And then the girls confronted John about it and it wasn't good because that was just after he confronted Kathryn about her affair. The dream lands ends with John collapsing but this time, no one was around to help him. I'm assuming that he would've died if the dream continued.
In the final minutes we see John wake up to Kathryn and Regina standing there and the first thing John does is thank Regina for being there. I am so happy he said this. Hopefully he'll start to be more grateful for Regina and maybe even forgive her. Then I might actually like him ... MAYBE! I'm really hoping that there's a moment when someone says to John that he would've died if Regina wasn't there. Maybe it'll come next week.
Overall this episode was super weird and sad and I legit shed a tear, which is a big deal. I really wished that they changed the intro though. But, yeah this was just a really weird episode and I'm glad that it wasn't real, but I probably would watch the show if it was like this. Even though Regina was dead, Angelo could still be out there and seeing Bay go through the process of finding him would be interesting. Also, the cinematographer in me loved the transitions!
I can't wait until next week. It looks like it's going to be just as intense and emotion as last night was! Oh and if anyone knows what 'ecce mono' means I would appreciate you letting me know because I looked it up and found nothing.

Switched at Birth - He Did What He Wanted

I have to first say sorry for not having a review next week. I was working and didn't have access to a computer. Now on to this weeks review.
Things are heating up on Switched at Birth! First Bay and Ty are back together!! I must admit that I like Ty a little better than Emmett. He's so sweet and he fought for our country and now he's trying to figure out how to live as a civilian. And the way he is with Mary Beth makes my heart melt. I just love Ty. Bay on the other hand, really needs to not meddle in peoples business. Mack is so annoying and I have no idea what Mary Beth saw in him.
I said before and I'll say it again, Angelo and Regina need to get back together. It just needs to happen. I think Angelo is one smart dude and I think he knows exactly what he's doing with his money. I'm pretty sure he's going to stay rich, unless the restaurant doesn't do well, but I'm hoping it does.
Moving on to Daphne, I think she needs to chill with the guys for a minute. It seems like she is always trying to find a boyfriend (Bay too but where not talking about her). I'm not too sure about Jace; he's a little shady to me. I mean, he lied to Daphne and snoops around the office digging up dirt. I have the feeling that he might try to find dirt on John and then things could get real ugly, real fast.
Now on to the big explosion of the night; John Kennish. First off, that senator guy is a sleaze and thank God Kathryn told John. And John had a right to be mad, this man made a pass at his wife. The best thing John ever did was going to see that guy and yelling at him. It shows he really loves and cares about his wife, and I hope Jace exposes him for being a cheating sleaze. John had me on his side at that moment but it quickly changed. He really needs to not hold a grudge against Regina and Angelo. The fact is that they are Bay's real parents, not him and there's nothing he can do about it. I hope he gets that through his head. Maybe that's what happens in his little dream, which I'm really excited about seeing, but I'll get to that later. So John had a heart attack or something and is pulse-less on the ground. I do hope he's okay, and I think it's hilarious that Regina was the one to call 911. She'll probably be the one that saves his life and hopefully then he can see her in a new light.
Overall this episode was great. It's stirring up some stuff and this family's world is about to turn upside down and I'm excited to see it! So according to the preview next week is the 'what if the switch never happened' episode, which I'm thinking is John's unconscious dream thing he's in right now. I just can't wait to see what he thinks it would be like. The other think I want to see is what happens with Toby and Nikki. Their relationship is on the rocks and they are going to have to make a decision; do they want to be together or not. I'm starting to think not but who knows. Well, until next week. I seriously can't wait!

Switched at Birth - Distorted House

Where do I begin? Let's start with John. Guess what?? He's still annoying. I'm pretty sure everything he does pisses me off so why should I even try to like him. First off, how rude of him to call Regina a "basket case!" I mean, that's the mother of the kid you raised I think you need to show her some respect. And, why does he have such a problem with Bay living with her, it's her mother for crying out loud!! He really should just get over it. And then there's the whole thing with the manger of the car wash. What makes him think he can control his son's life like that? But, in the end Toby got the job. I think that Travis and Toby could've done it together or at least until Travis went back to school. That kid can't catch a break.
Daphne's kind of annoying. It seems like she only want to spend time with her bio parents when Regina's not around. She needs to let Bay spend time with her bio mother. Daphne just wants Regina all to herself and that's not cool 'cause it's been that way for 16 years. Give Bay a chance.
Ty's whole thing was really sad. I'm just glad that he started talking about it instead of bottling up inside until
God knows when.
Angelo's also having a tough time. Hopefully he finds his baby soon. I still can't believe she took off with their kid! And to have her adopted without his permission, that must be against some law! It's absolutely ridiculous! But luckily he has the rest of his family with him. I really hope that Regina stops fighting her love for Angelo and they stay married for real this time. Just watching them dance you could tell that was true love. It was so adorable to see all 3 of them dancing together but oh so very awkward when Kathryn and Daphne showed up. They should start getting use to it because I can just tell Bay will be there longer than planned. Oh well. Did they really expect this not to ever happen?? My only question is why does everyone seems so against Bay spending time with her real parents? It was bound to happen so they should just let it happen.
I just can't wait to see what's in store next week!!

Switched at Birth - Mother and Child Divided

Switched at Birth is finally back and it's already really different.
Since Regina left, Daphne has been living with the Kennish's and basically has become one of them. Bay is the only one upset with the whole arrangement. She's still pissed at Daphne about the whole kissing Noah thing and now they both hate each other. Yup, all this over a guy. I know, really stupid.
Because of some 'first day of summer' tradition she and Daphne have, Regina thinks that it would be a good idea to leave rehab early. EPIC FAIL. Her surprise was not taken well. Everyone just seemed more shocked than happy and everything was SUPER awkward. On top of that Daphne is super pissed that she left. So much yelling. So much awkwardness. This prompted Regina to move into Angelo's place so she can deal with the real world.
Toby and Nikki are still engaged and it looks like they will be getting married, but not without Kathryn taking everything over completely. But Nikki would not let that happen without saying something. That whole things was wonderful. Finally someone not afraid to tell them that spend a crap load of money is not always the right thing to do. I loved it and it's nice to know that she has a backbone.
Also there is some serious parental issues going on. John and Kathryn are acting like Daphne's real parents now and Bay and Regina want to spend more time together. I predict another switch in the future. The girls are definitely going to live with their bio parents this season.
The, supposed, surprise of the night is Ty coming back, but it wasn't very shocking. See, he's been back for months now and for some reason didn't let anyone know. And that whole fight seen wasn't as great and intense as I thought it would be. It does seem like Bay may want to get back together with him but I think she needs to stay off guys for a little while. It's looking like she just bounces from guy to guy and is never really by herself.
Lastly, John never fails to be John and get on my nerves. I guess that's just his character and I'm going to have to get used to it. I also think he doesn't like being a senator. We'll see how long that'll last.
Well, I'm really excited to see what this season will bring and I hope we start finding out a lot more about Angelo and the baby and what's going on with that. I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

The Fosters - Episode 1&2

So I decided to wait until the second episode to review this show because that's when the series really starts to pick up and all the introduction-y stuff ends. My verdict is that I like the show and will be watching this season. I'm so sure I'll review it every week but let me tell you why I like it.
I love how bold ABC Family is. First they have a lesbian couple which is something that's rarely, if ever, seen on TV. Then they dive into adoption and foster care which I love. I often see this in a negative light and it'll be nice to see all of the things that these kids go through.
So good job ABC Family for bringing to light something we wouldn't normally see. I will be with you every week. I know that was super short but that's all I have to say. I hope you guys tune in.
